Part-Time Youth Director
Fair Lawn Community Church in Fair Lawn, NJ, is seeking an energetic and caring part-time youth director to lead its Taiwanese American second-generation youth ministry. Responsibilities include leading youth worship, teaching Sunday school and organizing youth fellowship activities. Work with the consistory and church families to engage their support of the youth ministry. Will consider seminary student, graduate, or ordained minister. Goals of Youth Ministry
- Nurture youths to grow spiritually through Sunday worship and bible study.
- Engage youths to spread gospel to their friends via community service, missionary, and church activities
- Establish fellowship among youths and their families to grow in love and faith
General Qualifications
- Reformed faith perspective
- Relational, energetic, and team player
- Multicultural perspective
- Seminary student, graduate, or ordained minister
General Responsibilities (15 hrs/per week)
A. Sunday Activities
- Conduct youth worship service every week (may include Children message) – 1.5 hr
- Teaching Bible Study (high school class) – 1 hr
B. Conduct bi-weekly or monthly youth activities (including junior and senior high – at present, we have about 9 youths, when possible also include elementary schoolers)
C. Others
1) General caring for the youth throughout the week (e.g., chatting on computer, emailing, weekly newsletters, phone calls, meetings, meals)
2) Developing a "core group" of youth leaders and equipping them to become leaders in the church
3) Meeting with the pastor or leaders of the church (e.g. Ideally weekly, need to connect the youth ministry with overall church vision, support each other, pray for each other). Also meet with consistory once a month.
4) Meetings with parents (e.g., once every 2 months).
